FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. How do you derive the
cost of an appraisal?
A. CNP
looks at the number of individual line
items to be appraised and the level of difficulty in
deriving good market data. For example, evaluation of a typical
CISCO ENTERPRISE switch or router is relatively easy to do. A
difficult appraisal would be one where there are many different
manufacturers which are 2nd, 3rd, or fourth tier. The
CNP
database and industry contacts are comprehensive and without
peer.
Q. What are the cost ranges for a
custom appraisal?
A. The prices range from
$12.00 up depending on line item density and level of difficulty.
For example, if you have 8 line items, all of which are the same
mainline manufacturer, the price would probably be $21.00. On the
other hand, if you gave CNP
4 line items by very obscure different manufacturers, the price
would be higher. Your estimate would reflect that.
Q. Why the list price service?
Isn't that readily available?
A. One would think so.
However, companies that have medium to long lists of surplus
computer/network gear, usually cannot tie the original PO/Quote
to the gear 3 to 4 years later. Also, many manufacturers do not
make their current or "older" list prices readily available to
the public. And in some cases, the so-called official price list
is a better kept secret than the location of Osama Ben-Laden.
Q. What do you charge for providing original Manufacturer list
prices?
A.
Just like the appraisal process, the line item density and level
of difficulty is different in each case. [Prices start at
$21.00 for small groups.] Also, the completeness
of the line item description, and the accuracy of the Model
number, greatly effect the level of difficulty. In some cases,
it is actually harder to determine the original list price, than
the current market value or selling price.
Q. Do you keep credit card information that I submit?
A.
No. For security purposes, we rely on PayPal
(www.paypal.com) for credit card processing. PayPal is a
wholly owned subsidiary of the Multi-Billion dollar Ebay site,
and provides serious security for your information.
Q. Once I have made payment for the appraisal or list price
research, how fast will I get the results?
A. CNP
makes every effort to complete all requests in 4 hours
(business hours).
However, the larger tasks may take as long as 12 hours (business
hours). Our hours are M-F 8am to 7pm Eastern United States time. Custom
appraisals in excess of 300 line items can take as long as 3
days.
Q. In what format will my appraisal be returned to me?
A.
Most appraisals are returned in a Microsoft Word format as an
attachment to an email. If the source listing of equipment was provided to
CNP
in an Excel format, the appraisal will be returned in that
same format. Extremely large appraisals that are used for
litigation purposes, will be accompanied by an "Appraisal
Methodology and Assumptions" letter report and all source
material and documentation will be provided on a CD.
